Rachel’s love of yoga started over 20 years ago. Introduced to Bikram Yoga in her early 20’s, it was the beginning of a 25 year love affair. Eventually Rachel was introduced to various styles of yoga and fell in love with the freedom that came from a Vinyasa Yoga practice. She studied with world renowned yogi Tiffany Cruikshank and received her 200 hour yoga certification from Yoga Medicine. She has traveled the world both teaching and studying yoga. She has completed trainings on Myofascial Release and most recently she completed a 60 hour intensive training in Peru focused on Yin and Meditation. Rachel believes that to be a good teacher you must continue to be a student of life and yoga. She knows first hand how transformative this practice can be and she can’t wait to inspire you with her playful and creatively designed flows set to carefully curated playlists, combining her love of movement and music. All designed to help you find balance both on and off the mat.

Q: What’s your favorite “secret” Chicago retreat?

Having only lived in Chicago for 6 months I’m still exploring but my favorite “secret” Chicago retreat has to be the Lily Pond and Nature Conservancy at the Lincoln Park Zoo. There are beautiful little paths all around the pond with lots of hidden places to find a seat to meditate or read a book on a warm summer day, it truly is a sanctuary in the city. My other favorite spot is a beautiful artsy space that’s been converted to a furniture showroom/restaurant, the Three Arts Café, it’s beautiful and the perfect spot for a girl’s lunch date or a glass of champagne.

Q: Your favorite way to decompress?

My favorite way to decompress is to take a sweaty yoga class, cozy up with my family at home and binge watch my favorite shows on Netflix. Doing anything outdoors, a long walk or bike ride, I’m the happiest when I’m traveling, getting my exercise, soaking up the sunshine and anytime I’m with the people I love.

Q: Who’s your favorite artist?

My favorite musical artist is Nahko and Medicine for the People. Nahko is the lead singer and is not widely known yet but is definitely gaining popularity. He’s a singer/songwriter, storyteller, activist and artist with a constantly evolving sound. He has been inspiring me for years and you can always find one of his songs woven into my yoga playlists.
