Jeannie Smith is a yoga instructor, nutrition and health coach, freelance creative and fitness blogger. Her love for leading an active lifestyle began early on. Jeannie swam competitively and, as a true Minnesotan, played hockey through high school. It wasn't until college that her love for yoga blossomed and, with a friend, she helped form the Saint Mary's College Yoga Club and taught during her senior year. When she moved to Chicago, she couldn't ignore the urge to bring this practice to others. Her ultimate goal is to bring life to everything she touches, be it a brand, a nutrition client or a yoga student. She travels often with her husband, feels the most free while skiing, and spends way too much time spoiling her golden retriever, Teddy.
Q: Your favorite way to decompress?
When I am cooking or prepping a meal, I go into a sort of meditation that allows me to decompress and unwind. After a long day, I am drawn to the kitchen, where you can typically find me preparing a meal with my husband, occasionally with a glass of red wine in hand.
Q: What’s your favorite non-fitness related hobby?
I am and always have been an avid reader. Books have so much power - they can transport us to a different time and place, challenge the way we think, expand our mindset and teach us something new.
