About Caitlin Akey

Growing up with a mom as a Personal Trainer, Caitlin has had a passion for exercise and nutrition since birth. Her mom taught a high impact step aerobics class 5 days before giving birth! The Michigan native moved to Chicago in 2005, started working at a gym as a front desk attendant, and in 2010 obtained NASM CPT and Women’s Specialist, SCW, and TRX certifications while teaching group fitness classes and training clients one on one. You’ll find Caitlin in the gym most days and now you’ll find her in the Interval studio teaching Torch. Her classes are packed with high energy, loud music, corny jokes and challenging and effective programming designed to give you the most effective workout.

Q: What's your power song?

Currently anything by Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, and/or Justin Bieber!

Q: What's your favorite "secret" Chicago retreat?

Montrose Harbor at the lake - it's slightly tucked away, it's quiet and you can sit with your feet in the water. It's my morning quiet time.

Q: What's your favorite way to decompress?

I'm an introvert at heart, so a good night in watching just about anything on Bravo.
