As our staff and member safety is paramount, it is critical that we deliver a package that goes above and beyond protocols set forth by the CDC and WHO. While taking into account the extensive conversations we have had with local medical professionals, fellow business leaders, many of you, and the comments and recommendations received in our June 9th Member Survey- we wanted to highlight some of the changes you will see taking effect upon re-opening below:
Required Temperature Checks: Anyone that enters Studio Three will need to pass through a thermal temperature detector. If someone’s temperature is over 100.4 °F, they won’t be allowed to enter the studio. Further, we will have thermal temperature cameras set up around the club to further ensure that staff and clientele are constantly monitored.
Notifications: Members are asked to alert their club’s Studio Manager if they test positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of their last visit. An email notification will be sent to all potentially exposed persons if there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 at a Studio Three location.
PPE Gear: Guidelines will be established according to what is outlined by the City of Chicago at time of reopening.
Sanitation Stations: Touchless sanitation stations will be located at the entrance of the clubs and throughout. Our sanitizer is the WHO formula; we ask that members use this on their hands immediately upon entering the facility and frequently throughout their visit. Disinfectant wipes 2 will also be easily accessible in common areas as well as each classroom (all EPA approved for use against COVID-19).
UV Disinfecting Accessory Bar: UV cleaning compartments will be available for all members when entering the facility to disinfect their phones, keys, and other small accessories.
UVC Sole Disinfecting Devices: HealthySole UVC units will be at the entrances of each studio which uses UVC technology to kill up to 99.9% of all pathogens on your shoes.
Reduction in Class Sizes: Capacity per room will be significantly reduced which will decrease the amount of people taking class per cubic meter of room space, as well as the total number of people moving around in the common areas at one time. If your schedule permits, we encourage you to come in during the off-peak hours to help with this effort.
Room Reorganization: Select pieces of equipment will be removed(treadmills, rowers, and bikes) to allow for additional spacing between members.
Plexiglass Barriers For Further Separation: Each classroom will have custom plexiglass separations in between equipment/stations, but will not impede the movement or experience of the class. Interval studios will have plexiglass installed to ensure separation between each treadmill down to each rower. In our cycle studios, we are constructing plexiglass shields around the front and sides of each bike where there is another individual. Our yoga studios will have a plexiglass barrier that runs across each row at a minimum.
Additional Time Between Classes: A minimum of 20 minutes transition time will be in place in between all classes to allow for our staff to deep clean the rooms, equipment, and ensure we wipe down all of the surfaces. Longer transition times will also lead the common areas to be much less crowded than they were with our previous schedule timing, as members of the prior classes will have had enough time to leave the facility before the next class arrives. Further, we have put as much effort into staggering the end time of classes that overlap so that passing areas and common areas are less crowded
Reducing Contact With Equipment: Weights will be eliminated in Cycle and we suggest that members wear gloves in Interval and Yoga for further protection. Yoga mats will still be provided complimentary, however, it is highly encouraged for members to bring their own mat. After initial cleaning, all Studio Three yoga mats are run through a Matsana machine that uses UV technology to kill 99.9% of germs including COVID-19.
Signage: Signage will be put up around Studio Three to remind clients and staff what they can do to continually keep themselves and each other safe. Floor markers will be added throughout the space to further encourage 6ft of social distancing and control traffic patterns to help eliminate touch points.
Increased Cleaning: Increased cleaning measures will be routine and rigorous. We will be hiring additional cleaning staff to deep clean all common areas including high traffic areas, lockers, and all touch points, more often and all fitness equipment more rigorously with sanitation measures and disinfectant that meets or exceeds CDC measures.
Air Quality: Our HVAC systems have always exceeded the air turns per hour and in cubic feet per minute (CFM) as required by building code. In addition to this, we are installing hospital grade filters.
Investing in Additional Equipment: We are purchasing electrostatic sprayers, UV sanitizing technology to fully disinfect balls, props, weights, shoes and other small items as well as extraordinary amounts of sanitary and medical grade solutions for cleaning and disinfecting. All products have been certified for the kill claim against the COVID-19 virus.
Locker Rooms: We will ask that at peak times, if possible, you go home to shower and only use the locker rooms if necessary. While we ask you to keep the proper distance from other patrons here, we may instill further limits in the locker rooms/showers, although we hope this won’t be necessary
Extra Staff Precautions: While our staff already follows strict protocol with handwashing and sanitary standards, our leadership teams will be required to wash their hands upon entrance to the club, then put on nitrile gloves, a respiratory mask and a plastic shield for the entire duration of their shift, as well as equip themselves with a cleaning belt that includes hand-held sanitation devices.
Hands Free Service: In addition to the touchless hand sanitizing stations, we are taking extra measures to eliminate or minimize high touch zones as much as possible. Automatic water bottle fill stations are already installed at each studio and members will be asked to only use those and not the regular water fountains. Cycle shoes will be placed in custom cubbies so members can easily retrieve them after check-in. The retail floor will be a “look but don’t touch” policy unless you would like to purchase or try something on. Anything touched or worn will be immediately disinfected or laundered by a team member. Lastly, touchless pay stations will be in place at all desks.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be complete by 5pm the day before the class reservation to avoid a fee. If you are not feeling well and it is past the 5pm window, please email the studio or the studio manager to let them know so that we can credit your reservation back to your account and waive your fee. We do respectfully ask that if you are not feeling well you do not come to the studio until you are symptom-free or fever free for at least three days. Example: If you cancel a class on Friday for Saturday, we ask that you do not attend until at least Tuesday.
Late Arrivals: For everyone’s safety, there will be no access to classes once they have started
Reservation Limitations: With the upcoming capacity limitations, we want to ensure that all members have the opportunity to get their workout in. To make this possible, all packages and memberships will be restricted to one reservation per day. If you are craving a double (or as. If triple), we invite you to come to the studio on standby for a later there is a space available our staff will register you for class.
Kids Care: During the reopening phase kids care services will not be available. Any members who have Kids Care sessions currently on their account will have them frozen until services are available again.
As you can all see, we have meticulously considered as many angles of Studio Three’s operations as we can to ensure that when you are inside the club, we are doing all we can to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus. For our protocols to be most effective, we need everyone to play their part while attending the club as we are all leaders in this community together.
We will keep you up to date on the latest developments regarding our reopening. In the meantime, please reach out to anyone at Studio Three with any questions or concerns that you may have as we have a growing team eager and ready to assist you.
Thank you and we all look forward to keeping everyone safe,
The Studio Three Team
