Teaching Philosophy:
As a teacher and forever student, I believe that yoga should be an inclusive, empowering practice that meets people exactly where they are. I am deeply committed to offering compassionate, accessible classes that honor the uniqueness of each body.
Grounded in functional movement patterns and intelligent, safe sequencing, my classes emphasize posture progression and focus on specific muscle groups (both mobility and strength-focused) to support meaningful, sustainable growth. I believe in honoring the foundations: breathwork, mindful movement, and the meditative quality of practice—while also recognizing that yoga should evolve alongside our understanding of human movement and biomechanics.
Postures inherently feel different to each person based on their own body and experience, and my role as a teacher is to honor and celebrate those differences. I am there to guide students in a safe, inclusive space for self-exploration. But perhaps most importantly, I believe that yoga is a way of living, an embodied practice that extends far beyond the four corners of the mat.
Motivation to be part of YTT:
While I’ve always had a desire to participate in a teacher training as I've always been a teacher and leader at heart, I know that my choice to participate in Studio Three’s YTT is because of my deep connection to this community and yoga program.
I started with Studio Three in 2015 (before we officially opened our doors in River North), just 3 years into my yoga teaching career. I worked alongside wonderful leaders to develop the yoga program, maintain its authenticity to the practice—promoting individuality in each class, and build a deep community of like-minded individuals.
YTT has been a goal of mine for years—to bring an incredible training to our amazing S3 family, to guide students that I’ve known for many years to lead the room, and to teach alongside outstanding instructors turned friends. I feel honored and lucky that it’s finally happening—and that I get to be part of it.
Other Skills I Bring to Your Training:
I’m a lifelong educator. Prior to teaching yoga, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Education and I worked as a high school English teacher which introduced me to the critical skills to lead a room with confidence and compassion.
Once I transitioned my career to the fitness world as a yoga instructor, I took on the roles of front desk manager and Director of Yoga to develop the Studio Three yoga program. In these roles, I developed the programming for multiple formats on the yoga floor, auditioned, hired and managed instructors, mentored the team, trained new instructors, and developed and led workshops for teacher development.
Through this experience, I have an innate understanding of the business of yoga and the skills to be successful in this industry. I also believe deeply in diversity, equity and inclusion—I participated in an Anti-Racism in Wellness course in 2020 to deepen my knowledge and support my ability to lead others in inclusive instruction. I’m excited to share my 12+ years of experience with our trainees.
