About Kat Wiersum

A native of Chicagoland, Kat started dancing at the age of two and pursued dance through college, training at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City and ultimately graduating with a BA in Dance from Columbia College Chicago. While studying at Columbia, Kat discovered her true passion for fitness. Conditioning classes with Matthew Hollis and Mat Pilates with Kym Costa created the building blocks for exploring these new movement vocabularies. Kat has been involved on the “behind-the-desk” side of fitness for more than seven years with a work/study with One Hundred Fitness and as management at Equinox Fitness Clubs, ivivva by lululemon athletica, and most recently at Studio Three as Assistant Studio Manager. In addition to coaching Interval classes at Studio Three, Kat teaches Pilates at Amplified Pilates Center and holds a 450-hour Comprehensive Pilates Instructor Certification through Pilates Sports Center.

Q: What is your guilty pleasure?

I LOVE reading magazines. I will buy paper magazines until the day I die or they stop selling them altogether!

Q: What song gets you hype and keeps you motivated?

No song gets me going quite like French Montana's classic Pop That; it's the ultimate pump-up track and never gets old.

Q: What is your favorite way to decompress?

Taking a walk around my neighborhood and listening to music.
