About Jenny Finkel
Jenny Finkel began doing yoga as a scoliotic, asthmatic 12-year-old after reading an article in Seventeen magazine. Now that she is kind of an adult, she teaches yoga and fitness classes full-time. She completed her 200-hour training with YogaWorks, and followed that with a 50-hour specialized training in Therapeutic Yoga for Cancer at Duke Integrative Medicine. In 2011, she relocated from New Orleans to Chicago, and she continues to take every opportunity to advance her yoga training and evolve as a practitioner and a teacher. Since her relocation, she has obtained her 500hr yoga certification with Zuna Yoga, her AFAA group fitness certification, and 40hr Barre training with Exhale. Jenny was delighted to be named a yoga ambassador for lululemon athletica Michigan Ave in January 2013, and she is currently serving as Fitbit ambassador for the city of Chicago. When not teaching yoga and fitness, she performs with the non-profit comedy group Funny Bones Improv and eats doughnuts. She teaches yoga like she lives her life: with a sense of humor, a spirit of adventure, and the occasional naughty word.
Q: What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I used to work as a street musician in New Orleans. "Leaving on a Jet Plane" was my big show-stopper. Now that I think back on it, that time really helped shape the work ethic I have now as an instructor!
Q: What is your favorite non-fitness activity?
I have two settings: ON and OFF. So my non-fitness time is pretty restful: sleeping, eating, reading, cuddling, watching movies, and writing. And travel, but I file that under "ON!"
Q: What is one of your guilty pleasures?
I would say doughnuts and mac & cheese, but I actually feel zero guilt about those, because they are delicious. So I'll say America's Next Top Model, because I do feel a little guilty about loving it so much. It's the only reality show I've ever watched!!View Schedule
